Rules & Regulation:

INTRODUCTION

Please read through the following Rules and Regulations carefully before you register for the SAAB City
Duathlon 08.

Your registration implies that you have read and accepted the conditions herein.


ELIGIBILITY

  1. Participants must be 8 years old and above on the race day to register for the event. Participants under 21 years old on race day will require parental/guardian's consent to register for the event. Participants taking part in the Relay team must be 17 years and above on the race day to register for the event.
  2. Participants may register individually or through their schools but their participation will be strictly according to their age group within each division.

REGISTRATION

  • All registration will be done online at our event website ¨C www.cityduathlon.com
  • Limited vacancies are available for the race. Closing date will be on 16 May 2008
  • The Organisers will not be responsible for any disputes arising from incomplete entry details.
  • On-the-spot registrations will not be entertained
  • The Organising committee reserves the right to close registration earlier should participation reach our capacity before the closing date.
  • An email confirmation with the Race information of individual participant will be sent to their registered email and successful race registration with payment. Any discrepancy from the intended registration should be reported to the Race organisers.
  • Completion of the online entry form evidences the Participants' agreement to abide by the relevant rules and regulations of Triathlon Association of Singapore (TAS) & International Triathon Union (ITU). These rules apply at the material time and to all and any ruling of the organizers, TAS, Singapore Sports Council (SSC) and International Triathon Union (ITU).
  • Race category is not transferable. Relay disciplines are not interchangeable among team members.

 

GENERAL INFORMATION

  • Whilst every reasonable precaution will be taken by the Organisers to ensure the participants' safety, participants partake in this event at their own risk and the Organisers, Sponsors and their appointed officials shall not be liable for any loss and/or damage, whether personal or otherwise, and howsoever arising.
  • Once the registration form has been duly processed, there will be no fee refund for those participants who, for whatever reason, eventually do not take part.
  • The Organisers reserve the right to use any photographs, motion picture, recordings or any other record of this race and its participants for any legitimate purpose, including commercial advertising.
  • The detailed "Wave" starts for the event will be published on the website one week after the close of entries.
  • All participants in relay teams are responsible for passing their ChampionChip Timing Band to their teammates at designated areas after completing their respective legs.

 

RACE INSTRUCTIONS

REPORTING TIME

  • Participants are to report at least 1hr before their respective race start times at the Registration Booth.
  • All participants are to proceed to the Transition Area after reporting. They are required to place their race equipment (i.e. shoes, bicycle, etc...) at the allocated lot which is in accordance to their race I.D.
  • Please proceed to the run start area 10 minutes before the scheduled start of your wave.
  • A grace period of 15 minutes after the commencement of the race will be given for latecomers. Anyone who reports later than this grace period will not be allowed to participate in the race. Latecomers should be aware that their timings would have commenced when the race begins.

PRIZES

  • At the end of the meet, all the results of each category will be declared.
  • Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 participants / teams of each category.
  • Participants who complete the race will be awarded a Finisher medal, Certificate, Event T-Shirt.
  • There will be an attractive lucky draw for all SingTel Corporate Challenge Relay participants after the event.

RUNNING

  • All runners in relay teams must ensure that their ChampionChips are securely strapped to their left ankles before running.
  • All runners must wear their race numbers in front of their racing attire at all times.
  • Support vehicles or pacers are not allowed.
  • Runners must run on the designated path for the entire route. Failure to do so may result disqualification.
  • No running with bare torso.

CYCLING

  • All cyclists in relay teams must ensure that their ChampionChips are securely strapped to their left ankles before cycling.
  • Cyclist must ensure that their competition numbers are clearly visible at the back of their adorned apparel at all times
  • No bare torso is allowed at all times
  • A participant may run or walk with his/her bicycles
  • Cyclists are to keep to the left side of the road and are reminded to observe traffic rules at all times
  • All participants will have to perform their own repairs if their bicycles should break down. Changing of bicycles is only permitted at the Transition Area.
  • Support vehicles and crews are not permitted
  • All cyclist must wear helmets
  • The helmet must stay on cyclists' head till he/she has placed in his/her bicycles securely at the allocated space on the bike rack
  • All participants are encouraged to have their bicycles brakes are in good working condition
  • No drafting is allowed
  • All cyclists in relay teams must cycle with their ChampionChip strapped to their left ankle during the cycling leg and pass the ChampionChip to their runners at designated area.


INCLEMENT WEATHER

  • In the event of inclement weather, the Organisers reserve the right to delay the commencement of the race.
  • Should the inclement weather persist after delay, the Organisers reserve the right to cancel the race without any refund.


MEDICAL ADVISORY

  • Participants are advised against the consumption of alcohol or stimulants or any kind of drugs within 24 hours of their race.
  • Participants are to ensure that they are well-rested and well-hydrated on day of race.
  • Participants are advised to dress lightly.
  • Should any participants feel unwell in the course of race, he/she should stop and seek immediate medical attention at designated medical posts.
  • The Organisers reserve the right to remove any participant deemed physically incapable of continuing the race.


OTHER MATTERS

  • A participant who protests against another competitor or notifies of violation by a contestant must do so in writing to the Organisers within 30 minutes of his/her finish time. A deposit of S$50 must accompany the appropriate protest and will be refunded if the protest is successful.
  • Only the official number tags issued by the Organising Committee may be used.
  • All participants must return the Championchip to the organizers immediately after the race. The cost of replacing the chip of and its straps is $50.00.
  • The Organisers reserve the right to amend the rules and regulations without prior notification.
